Jan Lilius Appointed as the Estate Administrator in the Bankruptcy of Plantagen Finland Oy

25 February 2025

Hannes Snellman’s Specialist Partner Jan Lilius was appointed 1 October 2024 as the estate administrator in Plantagen Finland Oy's bankruptcy. Plantagen Finland Oy was a Finnish company specialised in the retail sale of gardening goods and supplies, which filed for bankruptcy on 30 September 2024. Plantagen Finland Oy’s Norwegian and Swedish group companies underwent simultaneously local formal restructurings which made the assignment a cross-border case.

All 10 stores in Finland were closed down during the first month of the bankruptcy with all fixed and current assets realised. The bankruptcy is now in the phase of lodgement of claims based on which the so-called disbursement list will be prepared.

Hannes Snellman’s lawyers Mikko Tavast, Johanna Haltia-Tapio, Maria Aholainen, Susanna Purovirta, Marika Sorsa, Annika Grönholm, Juuso Lumilahti, Emilia Karikoski, Ninni Luoma, and Simon Mittler have assisted Jan in the assignment.

Jan heads Hannes Snellman’s Insolvency Practice, and he has vast experience in matters relating to insolvency, such as administering bankruptcy estates and companies under restructuring proceedings and advising distressed companies and creditors in matters related to insolvency proceedings. Jan has also litigated and arbitrated a number of cases relating to other types of business disputes, for example complex construction disputes. He regularly represents Finnish and foreign companies in arbitration proceedings conducted under the Finnish Arbitration Act and the Arbitration Rules of the Finland Chamber of Commerce.
