Tax Specialist Heikki Vesikansa Becomes a Partner at Hannes Snellman on 1 January 2016

4 December 2015

Heikki Vesikansa heads Hannes Snellman’s transaction structuring practice in Helsinki. He advises clients in the area of tax structuring in a wide range of demanding M&A, equity, and debt capital markets transactions. Heikki’s extensive experience in transaction structuring stems from providing tax advice in over 300 transactions over the past 15 years.

Heikki joined Hannes Snellman from KPMG in 2014.

Hannes Snellman’s tax practice focuses on significant transactions and complex litigation cases. The team has a strong international reputation for providing sophisticated tax counselling on domestic and cross-border tax issues and for providing high-quality, innovative tax solutions in an increasingly complex field of law.

Hannes Snellman sees an increasing demand for independent law firm representation in tax matters. The tax authorities have become increasingly zealous and proactive in collecting tax revenues, in particular, from international businesses. Our strong tax litigation practice puts us in a unique position to advise clients on how to structure investments so that they can stand the test of these potential challenges. Also, while the upcoming new EU-level audit firm regulation of 2016 imposes an obligation on auditors to refrain from giving advice on tax matters, our tax advice remains independent, solely focused on our clients’ interests and free of conflicting obligations.

As a result of Heikki’s promotion to partner, Hannes Snellman will have two tax partners. Hannes Snellman’s long-standing tax partner, Ossi Haapaniemi, will continue with a particular focus on high-profile tax litigation cases.
