Sports Law Expert Markus Manninen Receives the First Ever Lauri Tarasti Award

The Finnish Sports Law Association has awarded Hannes Snellman’s Specialist Partner Markus Manninen with the first ever Lauri Tarasti Award for his remarkable efforts for sports law both nationally and internationally. 

Markus Manninen holds several high-profile positions of trust in different sports-related federations. For example, he serves as a CAS arbitrator and chairs the Disciplinary Committee of the Finnish FA and the Anti-doping Supervisory Board of FINCIS. He is a versatile lecturer on topics related to sports law and has published several articles on the subject.

The Lauri Tarasti Award was established in 2018, and it supports the development of sports law in Finland. The initiator of the award is Minister Lauri Tarasti, who is a former chairman of the IAAF Arbitration Panel, a former member of the IOC Sport and Law Commission, and one of the founding members of the Finnish Sports Law Association. The award is granted and managed by the Finnish Sports Law Association.

Markus has decided to use his award to support sports activities for children with special needs.
