Privacy, Data Protection, and Telecom Expert Maria Aholainen Joins Hannes Snellman as Counsel

Hannes Snellman has further strengthened its Intellectual Property and Technology & Data Practice by recruiting experienced privacy, data protection, and telecoms regulation expert Maria Aholainen, who has joined the team as counsel.

Maria Aholainen’s expertise covers privacy and data protection law, including advice on privacy policies, data processing agreements, data protection impact assessments, and data subject response procedures. Maria also regularly advises clients on telecoms regulation compliance.  She often practises in an international context and has substantial experience in implementing multijurisdictional data protection and data transfer projects. Maria’s perspective is broad, based on her experience not only from private practice and in-house, but also from regulatory affairs in the public sector.

Prior to joining Hannes Snellman, Maria worked for an international law firm active in the Finnish market. Before that, she gained regulatory affairs experience working at the Ministry of Transport and Communications. This provided valuable insights into the pre-legislative process, engagement with stakeholders, and a strong understanding of data protection and telecoms regulation.
