Finland - A Prime Destination for Data Centre Development
Data centres are critical infrastructures that store, process, and distribute large amounts of data for various purposes. They require high levels of reliability, security, efficiency, and sustainability. Finland has a reliable energy supply with ample amounts of green energy readily available as well as in the pipeline for the coming years. As a northern country, Finland has almost year-round use for waste heat generated by data centres, which can be used locally in district heating systems.
Hannes Snellman has extensive experience and expertise in advising clients on all legal aspects of data centre projects in Finland. Our Real Assets service concept is made for large development projects allowing us to assist clients on the whole spectrum of legal issues related to data centres from land procurement, zoning, and permitting to energy regulation, project agreements, and construction. Our multidisciplinary team has successfully assisted numerous clients in developing, acquiring, leasing, and operating data centres.
Finland’s ambitious climate goals create a favourable environment for green transition investments, with a significant portion directed towards electricity generation from renewable sources.
