Piia Ahonen and Marika Sorsa's VAT Corner at Business Arena Helsinki 2024

Hannes Snellman's VAT experts Specialist Partner Piia Ahonen and Senior Associate Marika Sorsa will be hosting VAT Corner, a set of informative micro lectures, at the Business Arena Helsinki conference on Tuesday 13 February 2024.

Piia and Marika have curated the topics of VAT Corner to reflect the agenda of the conference. They will be touching upon three topical issues: changes in business models and better VAT position, VAT management during turbulent times, and questions related to upcoming changes in legislation regarding VAT monitoring rules. The lectures are designed to give brief overviews on the topics during the breaks of the official programme of the conference.

Piia heads our VAT and other indirect tax matters and client accounts in the fields of tax consultancy and tax controversy. She has over 20 years of experience in Finnish and international indirect taxation, and she has advised both Finnish and international clients in the real estate, automotive, and energy sectors, as well as the manufacturing and retail sectors.

Marika advises clients widely on domestic and international tax matters. She specialises in indirect taxation with a particular focus on VAT, and she has over 10 years of experience of cross-border operations, mergers and acquisitions in various lines of business, as well as daily tax management.

Piia and Marika recently published a book about VAT in real estate business (Kiinteistöliiketoiminnan arvonlisäverotus), and they are dedicated professionals in VAT matters relating to different questions and situations in the real estate sector.
