Hannes Snellman’s Discussion Event at SuomiAreena 2023

29 May 2023

Finnish working life and expert work have changed radically over the past years. According to research, the mental burden of working life is all the more exhausting for people, and mental health problems are driving more and more young people into disability pensions. At the same time, the birth rate in Finland is falling and working careers are getting longer.

Why is the burden of expert work a problem at the societal level? How is the workload reflected in the Finnish workforce and what will the future look like if the issue is not addressed effectively? What do Gens Y, Z, and Alpha want — and how does the working life need to change to meet these demands?

At Hannes Snellman's discussion event on Thursday 29 June 2023, the challenges of the present and the changes needed in the future will be discussed and solutions will be sought to bring about change. We will hear the views of Kristiina Halonen, EVP, PhD at Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Piia Kuosmanen, CEO & Co-Founder at Velbi, Kerttu Tuomas, Board Professional, and Aki Salmela, Associate at Hannes Snellman. The discussion will be moderated by Journalist Jussi-Pekka Rantanen.

SuomiAreena is the largest social discussion event in Finland held in the summer. SuomiAreena will take place in Pori on 27–30 June 2023. Hannes Snellman has participated in SuomiAreena since 2017.
