Anna-Maria Tamminen Speaking at German Arbitration Institute’s (DIS) Event at Swedish Arbitration Days

23 January 2025

Partner Anna-Maria Tamminen will be speaking at the German Arbitration Institute’s (DIS) event focusing on the new DIS supplementary rules for third-party notices at the Swedish Arbitration Days on Friday 24 January 2025.

The DIS’s event will examine how the new rules can help parties prevent being sandwiched in arbitration, the situations in which being sandwiched is a real risk, and the ways to handle such cases. The event will also address whether arbitration institutions can remedy the perceived disadvantage of arbitration against litigation and whether the new DIS supplementary rules are a suitable model for the Nordic countries. Anna-Maria will be one of the speakers in a panel discussion on the topic of “How Best to Prevent Sandwiching in Arbitration and How Can the DIS Supplementary Rules Help?” along with other Nordic experts.

In addition to acting as counsel in multi-party arbitrations with a value in dispute in the billions, Anna-Maria is an experienced arbitrator and has acted as arbitrator in both international and domestic disputes. She has acted as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator, and chairperson in over 30 international arbitrations under the SCC, ICC, FAI, DIA, and LCIA Rules with values in dispute up to EUR 60 million. The cases have been subject to Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Cypriot, Swiss, German, English, and New York law.
