When did you start working at Hannes Snellman?

I started in June 2019, so I have only been here for a short time, but I already feel very “at home”, which is wonderful!

What is your professional background?

I started my career already during my first years of studying by working at a law firm in Finland and continued at the same firm for almost 15 years. I had some breaks in between when I was studying abroad and working in-house for Forex Bank for a few years. When working in-house, I noticed that I really missed the working environment of a law firm and the adrenaline kicks I get from assisting clients with their transactions, which is why I returned to a private practice. I first joined Bird & Bird for a few years, where I was involved in building the private equity transaction side.

What was your first impression of Hannes Snellman?

I was so happy because everybody was so kind, helpful, and everything was done with such professionalism. I was impressed by all my new colleagues, the clients, and the transactions I get to work on.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I have two children (5 and 1.5 year olds) and a husband with whom I love spending time, so most of my free time is spent with them. Sports have always been a big part of my life, so I run, dance, go to the gym, play soccer with the kids, and keep myself active.

What advice would you give yourself on your first day at law school and on your first day working at a law firm?

On my first day of law school, I would let myself know that the path I had chosen, i.e.staying active in the student life (which resulted in lifelong friends), working part time, and studying would be the right mix for me. On my first day at a law firm, I would advise myself not to plan too far ahead, take things as they come, and trust my belief that “what is meant to be will always find a way” also in respect of my career.
