Anna-Maria Tamminen Delivering the 13th Bergsten Lecture on 13 April 2025

We are proud to announce that Hannes Snellman’s Managing Partner Anna-Maria Tamminen has the honour of delivering the 13th Bergsten Lecture on 13 April 2025.

Anna-Maria has been invited to deliver this prestigious lecture in conjunction with the Vis Moot finals in Vienna, Austria. The Bergsten Lecture, held annually during the Vis Moot finals, honours Professor Eric Bergsten, the founding father of the Vis Moot since 1994. This year, Anna-Maria will address the topic: “Joinder in Arbitration and Joining the Arbitration Community – in Divisive Times, When to Integrate and When Not?”

The lecture will be introduced by Professor Paul Oberhammer from the University of Vienna, with the discussion moderated by Dr. Alice Fremuth-Wolf, Board Member of the Austrian Arbitration Association. Joining Anna-Maria as discussants will be Professor Christian Koller from the University of Vienna and Partner Karl Pörnbacher from Hogan Lovells.

Anna-Maria, who serves as the managing partner of Hannes Snellman, specialises in dispute resolution, with a special focus on complex, international disputes and investigations. She has arbitrated cases under the ICC Rules, SCC Rules, FAI Rules, Vienna Rules, LCIA Rules, DIA Rules, UNCITRAL, and PCA Rules. Anna-Maria also acts as arbitrator in both international and domestic disputes. She has acted as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator, and chairperson in over 30 international arbitrations under the ICC, SCC, FAI, DIA, and LCIA Rules with a value in dispute up to EUR 60 million. The cases have been subject to Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Cypriot, Swiss, German, English, and New York law.
