Office Support Trainee
The Office Support Trainee Programme is aimed at first- and second-year law students who want to see how everything works in a major law firm.
Working as an office support trainee offers you a front-row seat to the everyday life of a business law firm. Thanks to the diverse work tasks, you get to learn about all aspects of working at a law firm, meaning that the traineeship may even help you clarify your future career plans. In addition, you will have the chance to network with leading professionals in the field and like-minded students from other universities from the beginning of your studies.
Tasks
The tasks of an office support trainee can be quite diverse, but they are mostly focused on taking care of practical matters involved with the daily running of the office. The tasks may include, for instance, taking care of the mail room, delivering mail and shipments, ordering office products, copying and filling stocks, helping with catering, and organising events. In addition, our office support trainees help with taking care of our reception and switchboard. In practice, this means telephone communication, welcoming guests, organising meetings, and taking care of travel arrangements.
Practicalities
The Office Support Trainee Programme usually runs three times a year, starting in May, September/October, and January. All periods are fixed-term, and the work is part-time during semester. The working hours will always be agreed on separately, so you will be able to keep up with your studies too.
“The best thing about working at Hannes has been getting to know amazing people and learning about the functioning of a large law firm. There is a good team spirit in our team, and I have made new friends during the traineeship. Our office has a low hierarchy, and everyone has been really supportive. Our tasks have been versatile, and the working days are never the same. I have really enjoyed our mentoring programme and got to know different teams with the help of my mentor. All in all, this traineeship has been a great opportunity to develop myself and to get to work with talented people.” – Office support trainee, 2024
